Following incessant killings of villagers in Southern Kaduna by Fulani herdsmen, hundreds of youths staged a massive protest in Kaduna forcing government to impose a curfew in Kafanchan.
The herdsmen, who had unleashed mayhem on people across the country, Wednesday attacked four villages in the Southern Kaduna killing 15 people. The villages that came under attack include Ungwan Rana, Gadani village, Gwagwada district of Chikun Local Government Area of the state.
Governor Nasir el-Rufai had come under severe criticism recently following his assertion that he paid some Fulani herdsmen from other countries to stop the killing of innocent women and children in Southern Kaduna whom he swore an oath as governor to protect
Following the ptotests, the Interim caretaker committee chairman of Jema’a Local Government Area in Kaduna State, Dr. Bege Katuka has imposed a 24-hour curfew in Kafanchan town as a result of the mass protest over the persistence killings in Southern Kaduna.
Kafanchan is the headquarters of Jema’a Local Government Area as well as the commercial center of the Southern Kaduna.
Thousands of people have died in the area following attacks by the same group over the years.
