Following the killing of 40 people in Godogodo, Kaduna State by Fulani herdsmen last weekend, the Senator representing Southern Kaduna Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator Danjuma Laah, said the invasion was a crime against humanity.
About 13 Fulani herdsmen said to be travelling around the area were also killed by angry mobs in a reprisal attack.
Addressing survivors of the invasion and other residents in mourning, who had abandoned the affected communities in Jema’a Local Government Area, the senator said he was stopped from going to see the carnage in the affected communities by security operatives.
He said no group of people should be allowed to get away with such impunity wondering why few soldiers and security men were posted to a place so endangered.
“I heard what has been happening since last Saturday evening, but I was stopped from rushing down here.
“I want to say that what I have seen here is a huge crime. It is an unforgivable crime against the people of Godogodo, Southern Kaduna and humanity.
“No group of persons must be allowed to escape with this impunity. My heart bleeds for you and I shall take it upon myself to ensure that the relevant Senate Committee does the needful to bring peace, succour and justice to the people of Godogodo.
“My investigation shows that there were very few soldiers and policemen here, compared to the size of the town and the danger looming over it,” he lamented.
