Corruption: FCT Minister Fires AGIS Boss, Jamila Tangaza, Orders Removal of Deputy Directors in Lands Dept, Development Control

tangazaMinister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mohammed Bello, Wednesday fired the embattled Director of the Abuja Geographic Information System (AGIS), Jamila Tangaza. Tangaza was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allocating several plots of land to relatives and cronies as well as allocating N800 million contract to her company in addition to purchasing N150 million house in Abuja.

The minister also ordered the removal of deputy directors in the Land Administration Department and Development Control. They were  directed to  report to the Department of Establishment and Training for further posting instructions.

A statement issued by the minister’s office said Isa Jalo, former Director in charge of FCT Archives and History Bureau takes over Tangaza’s position. Jalo once held the same position.

The minister also approved the appointment of Adamu Hussaini Jibrin as the new Director of Land Administration.
The new redeployment, which also affects the Departments of Parks & Recreation as well as Development Control, was contained in a circular dated August 10, 2016 signed by the FCT Permanent Secretary, Dr. Babatope Ajakaiye.

The new Directors of Parks & Recreation as well as Development Control are Ali Alhaji Ukele and Mukhtar Galadima Usman respectively.

Others are Imande  Victoria – Director, Satellite Towns Development Department (STDD); Obiechina Helen Nneka- Director, Resettlement & Compensation; Ahmed Zalihau-Director, Urban & Regional Planning; Dr. Okoroukwu Humphery- Director, Public Health; Mrs. Jogai Cerie- Director, Archives & History Bureau and Olaloye Marufu Omoniyi- Director, Facilities Maintenance & Management.

Abubakar Yahaya is now the Secretary, Urban & Regional Planning Tribunal, while Mrs. Ohamma Perpetual Ndawii now takes charge as the Deputy Director (Planning & Resettlement) in the Resettlement & Compensation Department.

The Circular also directed that all Deputy Directors currently in the Departments of Land Administration and Development Control are affected by this posting and should report to the Department of Establishment and Training for further posting instructions.

The former Directors Land Administration, AGIS, Parks & Recreation, Facilities Maintenance & Management, Urban & Regional Planning, Development Control and Ibiang Okoi Ikpi of Facilities Maintenance & Management are to await further posting; while former Deputy Director/ Land Registrar in Land Administration Department is o report to Legal Services Secretariat for posting.

The circular further directed that these changes are with immediate effect and that all handing and taking over formalities are to be completed unfailingly on or before Friday, August 12, 2016.
